Sharing a few dead projects from my archive

Post by speedbump1981 » Thu May 02, 2024 3:24 am

Howdy folks,
I'm not going anywhere with these projects, so I decided to upload them to my public repository. Maybe someone will find a good snippet of value buried in there, but here are the standouts:

Thunderlist (Android)
https://speedbump.io/repository/source_ ... erlist.zip
Basically a Wunderlist clone I built after Microsoft bought 'em out. I had this deployed to 3 Android phones for about 3 months before I ran into too many issues with synchronization not working as I had hoped. Gotta say though, those PolyList/PolyGrid widgets would have been a huge time save had they existed before I wrote this. I realize I could have use the Data Grid functionality, but honestly, I've never been able to wrap my head around working with Data Grids.

Snek! (Desktop)
https://speedbump.io/repository/source_code/Snek.zip
It's an unfinished prototype for a Snake clone. Left & Right Arrow Keys move the snake. There's 1 level, a debugger, and it mostly-works. I know there are a million different ways to code this game, so I figured I'd add one more to the pile!

SetWrite 4.1.2 (68K & PPC)
https://speedbump.io/repository/classic ... /setwrite/
If anyone is of the HyperCard persuasion, I was able to recover an old version of a standalone I created back in the late 90's. It's called SetWrite, and it's a basic Word Processor. I yanked out the registration information and made the source easier to access, so you're welcome to see just how many XCMDs and XFCNs I could cram into a HyperCard stack! I wish, wish, wish this was version 4.5, because that's the version where I refined the UI with color and shading, added a bunch of new features, and had a custom designed icon and everything. Gone to time I suppose.

There's more, but most of it is probably just junk. Regardless, you're welcome to visit my junk yard :D

Wow, nice shares, thank you!

Couldn't help but notice you have an app watson_for_hotline - this wouldn't be the venerable HotLine would it?

Those were the days!

You're welcome :)

Yes, Watson was a "search interface" for Hotline servers. The original read me probably says it's a search "engine", but that would only be true if it did anything more than scrape results from a competing web site. Believe it or not, people actually paid the $5 shareware fee I was charging. That is, until it was cracked, and subsequently added to every serial number database available on the internet. Which, conveniently, Watson could help you find.

In my defense, I haven't sailed the high seas in nearly 2 decades. But yeah, those were certainly the days! :D
