Look & Feel of the latest iOS!?

Post by DevBoyLars » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:28 am

Hi there,
is there a reason why mobGUI wan't updated to the latest look and feel of iOS? Such as the NavBar gets now a seamless fade from light to dark and not this old two color-bar.

I believe I read a message on the forum or use-list recently that mobgui was being updated. I'm not a mobgui user, but do believe that I saw a message in the last week or so.

I'm using mobGUI and I'm very sure, that there was no update in the last weeks :(

I think I recall seeing a message to that affect too. The message occurred a couple weeks ago, not an update. The update is in progress. (if my memory of the message isn't a figment of my own imagination)

Think it was on the use-list about 7 days ago. I forget where you can search for the use list, but there should be a message from John Craig that mentions the work being done to update mobgui.

YOu can sign up to the use-livecode mailing list here: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-livecode

Just found where you can search for old use-livecode list messages and located the post: http://runtime-revolution.278305.n4.nab ... 63370.html

I would find little incentive for mobGui to continue with the stretch goals being met.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/175 ... sts?page=2
Describes resolution independence, pluggable themes and others. If LC is going to do the work why would JC invest time, aside from the fact he's a great guy.
Maybe for a short term solution?

Thank you :)

But this is not what I meant. I was looking for an update to the pay-version of mobGUI for missing features.

This update is for an open-source (light) version of mobGUI and only some iOS-Controls without any auto-scale or resolution-help, like the pay-version does.

And the important thing: It still has the old iOS-look. Really really bad -.-

This is was mobGUI build actually: http://mobgui.com/img/MobGUI/MobGUIScreenshot.png
And this is how it should look today (since iOS 5): http://tutorialmode.com/wp-content/uplo ... os1257.png

Sure.. if... they will :D The question is: when? I asked Heather two weeks ago and she tells me I should buy mobGUI, because it doesn't seems that features like this will come soon to LC 6.

Any features improved in the open source version will find their way into the commercial version. As for the look and feel stuff, while I can't know everything that is on the schedule to be worked on, it wouldn't surprise me to find that on the list of things to be done. However, the best option would be to contact the author directly.

The website for mobgui is here: http://mobgui.com/ Hopefully you'll get a quick answer, and it is always best get the info directly from the Dude in charge.

EDIT: As far as all this goes, it should be possible to roll your own controls too. Many people do so.

I know you don't want to hear this but.
To be on the leading edge of things you have to put a lot of work in, to "lead".
If you can't wait for someone else to do the work then you can cut your own graphics and use them as button icons. Plenty of free photoshop iPhone files out there.
