There is always a balance to be found between promoting a product to potential users of a product and the convenience of it's existing users.
A newbie walking into a developers forum will sometimes think he's wandered into a war zone and see a lot of negativity.
No one posts something like "What a great day I had today with Revolution" -- only problems are discussed.
Registering to look inside a forum has never been a problem for me, but then I'm not too lazy to register and not scared/paranoid that someone will spam me.
Anyone interested enough to spend money and buy a product will register to have access.
Of course, they must be able to find the forum in the first place,
after the web site content has promoted the advantages of the product enough to get them interested.
I've used Director and Flash since they started, but only heard about Revolution Studio when it was mentioned casually on a competing applications forum.
cheers
