Data Tree for web implementation?
Hi folks, I'm considering Data Tree for my current project that will be implemented as a web page. Before I try or buy I would like to check whether this is a viable option for such a project.
I would download the quick start guide but http://www.theworcestersource.com seems to have been down for a few days(?)
Any clarification on this would be much appreciated.
Best,
Keith..

Re: Data Tree for web implementation?
Hi Keith,
My pesky hosts have been moving servers, resulting in my site going down sporadically. I've just checked and it's back up again.
To be honest, I'm not sure how Data Tree would work as part of a web page as I'm only ever involved in the desktop arena. I seem to remember anecdotally that RevWeb can't put stacks into use, which would mean you can't make use of the library.
I would be interested to learn whether anybody has had a go and got it to work.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the prompt and candid response.
I'll have to look further into what can be achieved with RevWeb - and the constraints - before I build-out my project too far!
I was hoping to find the user guide on your site - did I miss it or has it been rolled into the FAQ?
Best,
Keith..

Re: Data Tree for web implementation?
Hi Keith,
The user guide for Data Tree is a RunRev stack itself. The download on my site includes the library itself, the manual, a stack full of demo trees and an example of how to use the tree to display XML data.
The library is try-before-you-buy; it'll just sporadically pop up a nag window until it's licensed.
Cheers,
Steve

Ah, of course - makes sense. Good too about XML, as that's exactly what I'm grappling with on my project.
Thanks, I'll download and do some experimenting!

Researching to see what is available for tree views.
Is this still available?
I'm interested in testing on Android.

Re: Data Tree for web implementation?
Hi Barry,
Data Tree is still available but due to a total loss of my website a month ago, the information pages and download haven't been available.
I have just finished writing the code for an update to Data Tree, which adds iOS functionality. However, it's been coded such that it's totally specific to iOS (i.e. checking that the platform is "iPhone") and at this stage, I'm not yet aware of whether there are differences in user experience between iOS and Android.
Once I've finished off the documentation for the new release and got my site back up and running again, Android is something I'll have a look at in more detail.
Thanks,
Steve
