Automatic translator italian-swahili HC to Livecode
An automatic translator from italian to swahili working fine in HC doesn't work when converted to Livecode.
A part of the programming language is not compatible.
Who can help my poor knowledge of Livecode?

Habari Gani Gianluigi and welcome to the forum!
Gosh I used to speak Kiswahili quite well, just about all forgotten now...
You'll have to give us more details as to what the issue is - screenshots of error messages etc
Tutaona

Habari nzuri Dave,
this is my first experience with the forum,
as I see your Kiswahili is far from being forgotten.
There are no error messages, but instead of words translated it issues only dashes "-":
If you agree I can send you the file (the original one in HC and/or the converted one in Livecode).
Nakushukuru kwa kila hali,
Gianluigi

Re: Automatic translator italian-swahili HC to Livecode
Hi Gianugi - I came to LiveCode in 2009 - and here I have to admit to something shocking - I never found the time (or frankly the motivation) to learn HyperCard!
Sorry all you HyperCard veterans I mean no disrespect to LiveCode's honourable ancestor - come back at me with your reasons why I should spend time on it
Now, back to your app Gainlugi - I can't help with the HC version of your app - but many others here can, and if they offer, if I were you I would say "Yes Please!"
But I could perhaps help with some LiveCode stuff if you were to send me your LC app.
Actually if you were able to post both apps here on the forum you would get the maximum support - as Linus Torvalds says:

Hi Dave,
I am not as cruel as to ask you to learn Hypercard, where anyhow the file works fine.
Next week, I am out for holidays for a few days, I'll send you the LC file.
Anything you can do to make it work will be welcome.
For the moment,
Heri ya Jumapili,
Gian

@Gian I would be delighted to have a look (but will likely have lots of questions for you as my Kiswahili is almost gone and I have NO Italian!)

Re: Automatic translator italian-swahili HC to Livecode
I've seen the stack and while I know HC and have done many conversions, I had to pass on the job because all the variable names were in Italian and I couldn't keep track of them. The same was true of the interface, which I couldn't read, so had no idea what any of the controls or labels were about. Basically I couldn't read the scripts or run the stack because of the language barrier.
I'd like Gian to be able to finish the conversion but I think someone who knows Italian would find it much easier. Or perhaps he could try replacing the Italian variable names with English just to give the forum folks a leg up.

OK thanks Jacque!
@Gian could you attach a glossary or rubric of variables and terms used in the code and user interface? Basically if Jacque found it too hard to keep track of things then I'm sure I would as well...
By the way, do you know of the truly excellent Italian LiveCode blog at http://livecodeitalia.blogspot.co.uk/ run by @maxv here on the forum

Oh gosh, I forgot about Max's site. That is definitely a place to check out in this case.

Re: Automatic translator italian-swahili HC to Livecode
Hi Dave, Hi jacque,
many thanks for everything up to now. I realize the problems with the codes in italian and no problem to put down a glossary.
To send both HC and LC files as attachments to the forum is a problem because the forum, as far as I know, accepts only small size attachments.
I try the italian forum hoping in the best,
regards,
Gian

@Gian if you use Dropbox you could get the 'share link' of the folder containing the project and post that link here? I should think you would be able to do something similar with the Google, Apple and Microsoft storage storage equivalents...
Please do post your project files here (together with glossary) and we'll see if we can get it working - or at least partly working so that you can complete it yourself

Hi Dave,
I tried to send the project through Dropbox, following your suggestions.
My account has no permission to send links.
A mail address if for me the good solution.
