Word Template to Rev Application??
I have, shall I say, some rather "elaborate" templates created using MS Word and VB script from within the VB editor in Word. I created these templates for my own use within the industry that I work. Over the years many of my colleagues have suggested that I sell my templates b/c they save so much time and are really cool. I don't see much of a market for Word templates. I want to "re-create" my templates as a stand alone application that runs off of a thumb drive and was wondering if I could convert these templates to an application using Revolution. Basically the templates that I have utilize forms, macros, text boxes, list boxes and drop-down menus. The final "product" is a report that is in the Word format. I have hired (and fired!) programmers who claim they can do this,"No Problem, only will cost you this much.." but have lost money and I am still no closer to a final product. Any suggestions

Creating Word documents without actually using Word (directly or via Visual Basic Remoting) is nontrivial.
Nontrivial means that it's hugely complicated, and hard to do, even for simply styled documents, not to speak of the advanced features like automation and forms.
Said that, yes it's possible to do this in Rev, but I don't know about anyone who actually tried and succeeded.

Re: Word Template to Rev Application??
I've done it! My WordOut library has been used by beta testers to create .docx Word documents on Windows and Mac with good results, and the library will be released soon. Nontrivial yes, but fun--definitely!
