Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?
Hi This forum is really great, and help is always only a key press away. Many thanks to everyone who gave up their free time to make this forum possible. I see many people extolling the forum (Klaus etc are stars). I'll come back to that below. It is mostly painful to have an idea or a broad outline...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
We have two different views: 1) LC staff have been using GM for years with success. 2) various users who claim it's broken or unreliable One of 2) came to be 1) after staff at a conference showed him how to use it. Seems obvious to me that LC Ltd need to have a conferences session video on how they ...

Re: Your favourite text editor for working with livecode
I'm not cool so this may not apply, but FWIW I almost always use binary stacks, and edit their scripts within the IDE. Me too. I use the editor of LC IDE, re-factoring into Script-only Stacks (SoS). These are periodically committed to my Fossil vcs (both SoS and non-text elements get committed). Fo...

Try setting the shadow of the card to true and the 3d of the card to true. That might give you the effect you desire.

Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?
@Bernard: Clearly you have your views you will not engage in any discussion. I congratulate you on purchasing a mac in 1997; i got my first mac in 1985. But as i am not posting here to argue with you or to win some kind of contest, i'll stop responding to this type of post now. I will make these pa...

Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?
What marketing methods did you find contributed most to your books' success? Getting someone with over 1 million followers to promote the book. Would you characterize that as a teachable marketing skill, or a lucky roll of the dice? ;) I guess it was a bit of both. The quantity of engaging informat...

Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?
Keeping the info in these links in mind, do you really think things are optimal right now and can't do with improving? Please don't act as if I am Dr. Pangloss. If things were optimal the bug database would be empty and we'd ask for new features and they'd be delivered within 24 hours. But the real...

Re: SDK root & JDK path: None
Can I ask: once AS was installed did you a) just install the components from the SDK Manager or b) once installed did choose to update those SDK components? It was (a) , There was no choice, so I had to download the latest versions from SDK Manager. I wish there is a download option to choose file ...

Major considerations in adopting a new technology: longevity and activity - what's the timeline of history in advances in this technology? supportability - how difficult/expensive is it to get support? Since I've seen a number of users commenting on how this forum is one of the best (most helpful) p...

Re: SDK root & JDK path: None
Thanks Bernard!!!! I solved the problem with your help. I don't fully understand why this error happened but I am sure that a lot of new LC users will encounter the same issue again and again. I hope LC fixes this issue ASAP. Thank you everyone :D I'm just glad that we resolved this bizarre situati...

Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?
Well, for starters I’d pay a serious website dev to update the website, I’d provide ongoing dynamic content (blog posts, snippets, tutorials - whatever, just constant stream) and I’d mirror this on social media (at the very least Facebook, Twitter, perhaps Reddit - accepting the negativity there). ...

Thanks Jacque, that might be significant.
I've contacted Jellobus privately to try something else. We'll return to public discussion once we've tried it.
