Re: Slow Script Editor
Greetings all, I wanted to say 'Thank You' to everyone who contributed to this thread. I've been doing some research and would like to share my findings. After becoming frustrated with the performance and behavior of the LiveCode editor on Windows 10, I sought to find an alternative to using LiveCod...

Re: Slow Script Editor
In response to the Apple/Microsoft posts in this thread... The moment I first used a Mac (2 months prior to its release in 1984) it became my obvious choice for my ‘personal’ computer. However, I’ve earned far more money as a programmer using Visual Studio on Windows machines. Hopefully that will ch...

Re: HTML 5 App vs. iOS/Android App
Hey BobC, I just wanted to add that the user interface design of your Wordle-related app is very intuitive. I was able to use it effectively in a very short time, without reading any directions. All of the functionality was straightforward to figure out. This, for me, is a hallmark of good user inte...

Re: Slow Script Editor
General reply to all who have responded thus far... First, thank you for sharing your insights. I have wondered whether the Mac version of LC might be more robust than the Windows version, because I've seen a similar situation with other apps that were created first for MacOS and later converted to ...

Slow Script Editor
I've worked with several different IDE's over the years, but I'm new to LiveCode. I'm running 9.6.6 on Windows 10. I have a very small project (single stack, 3 cards, almost no code as yet) and I've noticed that the script editor can be very slow at times. I'll type as many as 10 to 20 characters be...

Re: HTML 5 App vs. iOS/Android App
I created a web app to help we with the Wordle game. My app is a helper tool to be used in conjunction with the Wordle game. It is on a server at LiveCode Hosting. Feel free to take a look: http://morrevbon.com/wordhelper.html Let me know if you have any questions, BobC Hey BobC, thanks for sharing...

HTML 5 App vs. iOS/Android App
Hello, I'm new to LiveCode. I'm designing an app and trying to decide which LC licenses to purchase. My target audience will be using mobile devices. I'm considering using a web app, and trying to determine whether LC HTML 5 is a practical choice for implementing this app. I've spent some time looki...

Easter Scoop Discount
Newbie with a question here... If I were to sign up for the 'Starter Plan' and use the current EASTERSCOOP discount, would that discount apply for the entire duration of my subscription? If not, how long would it apply?

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
What you did do was download a dmg file, open it, and then drag its contents somewhere on your hard drive. No one INSTALLS a dmg. You are correct; that was clumsy wording on my part. 1. Have you tried opening he LC app with a right mouse-click? YES. 2. Have you tried one of the Community versions I...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
That makes me wonder if Bob did drag the LC app out of the dmg and into the Applications folder. Some apps will run okay from within the dmg virtual drive, others won't. Pretty basic but it doesn't hurt to check. In all cases, I opened the dmg file and then dragged the LC app into the Applications ...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
Here's another update on this issue. I have downloaded and installed a different dmg file onto my MacBook Pro without any errors. It appears that the dmg files containing the LiveCode versions that I downloaded using my MBP are treated differently by my MBP than this other application that I downloa...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
I am finally able to get LiveCode Indy 8_1_10 running on my MacBook Pro. I downloaded the dmg image onto a Windows 10 machine and then copied the dmg file over to the MBP. It mounted and installed just fine, and there are no errors when it starts up. Apparently there seems to be something amiss in t...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
When I do download commercial versions of LiveCode, since the 'big cafuffle' when the Open Source versions were dumped, I always download them via my membership on the LiveCode site . . . and, unless you have a licence for those versions you will not get anywhere with them anyway. I am currently wo...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
Update on my earlier posts... I downloaded and attempted to install LiveCodeCommunity_8_1_10_Mac_dmg, that I downloaded from community_livecode_com. When I attempted to open the installed application, the same error message was displayed, that is, that the file was corrupted and should be put into t...

Re: LiveCode Installation on MacBook Pro With OS X "10 8"
Hey Richmond, thanks for your reply. If I understand correctly, you've installed LiveCodeCommunity_8_1_10_Mac_dmg onto your Mac running MacOS 10 7 5. That's not the file that I downloaded, however. The ones I attempted to install were located on the page downloads_livecode_com/livecode/ By the way, ...
